iAX™ SMS is the next generation messaging platform from Tango Telecom which includes features such as Direct Delivery, Charging, Flexible Store and Forward, SMS Anti-Spam  and SMS Value Added Services  such as Auto-Reply, Sponsored SMS, and Parental Control. 

iAX™ SMS can be deployed as a standard SMSC or as an adjunct SMSC with direct delivery providing a modular set of features based on the proven world class iAX™ platform. iAX™ SMS also fully supports the provision of Mobile Instant Messaging (IM) and the interworking with legacy SMS services via the standards based IP-SM-GW function.

iAX™ SMS provides a high volume SMS Direct Delivery Service (FDA - First Delivery Attempt) fully interoperable with existing messaging infrastructures. iAX™ SMS delivers SMS traffic directly to subscribers bypassing and offloading the SMSC, enabling operators to conserve SMSC capacity, remove SMSC bottlenecks and consequently reduce SMSC licensing and upgrade costs. iAX™ SMS also decreases latencies, substantially increasing the revenue earning power of the network.

Record-breaking SMS Delivery Benchmark

Based on Oracle’s Sun Blade X6270 M2 servers and iAX™, Tango Telecom’s next generation messaging platform achieved sustained performance of over 10,000 message delivery attempts (MDA) per second. The benchmark report shows that the iAX™ platform demonstrated unprecedented scalability to over 100,000 MDA/s from a single Sun Blade server chassis.

In 2010, the global annual SMS traffic was in the region of 6.5 trillion messages. To put this truly phenomenal benchmark in context, just a few Sun servers, fully equipped and running the iAX™ next-generation messaging software, could potentially handle SMS traffic for the entire world’s population.

Real-Time SMS Charging

Tango Telecom’s charging solution for SMS adds real-time rating and charging to an existing SMSC enabling charging based on service type, origin, Premium SMS and roaming locations. The charging module is interoperable with existing billing systems and a wide range of IN prepaid platforms.

Social Network Gateway

Over The Top (OTT) instant messaging services are a very real threat to operators' existing messaging revenues. Once smartphone penetration grows and cost effective data plans are available, mobile traffic migrates quickly to Instant Messaging and Social Networking provided bt OTT vendors. The only remaining inhibiting factor is the lack of interoperability but many smartphone clients can provide this.

Tango Telecom's Social Network Gateway allows you to compete with the threat from OTT services, in the medium term, by providing all the capabilities of social networking and IM over entry level phones without data plans. In addition our solution provides a key element of the standards based approach to mobile Instant messaging, the IP-SM-Gateway.

SMS Value Added Services

iAX™ SMS also offers additional revenue and cost-saving benefits through a range of optional features available from Tango Telecom. These optional features include Value Added Services (VAS) such as Forwarding, Copying, Auto-reply , Broadcast and Parental Control for SMS and SMS (Anti-Spam) Filtering.

iAX™ SMS supports standard network architectures and interfaces (SS7, MAP, WIN, INAP, CAMEL, SMPP, UCP, PARLAY, Sigtran, RCS, CPM).  iAX™ SMS interoperates with third-party solutions using standard interfaces, enabling an operator to deploy a mix of Tango Telecom and 3rd party solutions.
